GHANA’S FOREIGN POLICY UNDER MILITARY REGIMES, 1966–1993: AN HISTORICAL REVIEW

This paper probes the foreign policy objectives of military regimes in Ghana from 1966 to 1993. The mid-sixties and early-nineties saw Africa Latin America challenging each other for an accolade notoriety as continent with most coup d'états. Though disturbances Francophone could barely provoke any serious expert analysis, revolts Nigeria had given many pundits a different dimension militarization African politics. As 65-year-old sovereign state, has witnessed four regimes: 1966–1969, 1972–1979, 1979, 1981–1993. These politics takeovers were always blamed on economic mismanagement administrative abuse power. Indeed, Ghana’s economy since independence 1957 suffered several setbacks far steady growth is concerned. country celebrated its 65th day 6 March 2022, amidst global Covid-19 pandemic, this study seeks retrace political steps independence; focusing within last six decades. intends prove that just officers lack legitimacy govern, they are hardly right actors make successful decisions.
